San Agustín to Ecuador
For almost a week now, we have been enjoying the beautiful San Agustín in southern Colombia, which is composed of picturesque mountain and river landscapes wrapped in coffee bushes. The weather is adding to the beauty, as sun, clouds, and rain showers conjure up a surreal play of light and shadow on the lush green hills.

Back in Bananatree
After 9 months of road tripping through the USA and Mexico, we are back at Bananatree in the Mango Village in mid-March 2018. Our cottage already had first guests via Airbnb, generously hosted by Karina and Alejo.

Through Mexico: Oaxaca – Yucatán
The small hippie village had become a home for us seven years ago. While selling our jewelry on the street leading to the beach, we met many other artists. That's why we associate many exciting stories and people's lives with this place.

Road Trip Mexico
The first destination for us is the opal town of Tequisquiapan where we are welcome to try our hand on a booked tour. We try our luck and dig for raw opals armed with hammer and chisel.

Road Trip USA New Mexico to California
When we arrive in Santa Fe, we pass the 20'000 mile mark. We have been on this road trip through the US and eastern Canada for almost 5 months. We feel it. Slowly we are tired of driving and are looking forward to the end of the road.

East Coast to Texas
Jetzt kommt eines der Highlights dieser Reise, zumindest für mich. Schon das erste Mal, als ich ein Foto von diesem Wesen erhascht habe, wusste ich, da will ich hin! Ganz in der Nähe der von Charlston, der Hauptstadt South Carolinas, steht sie. Doch als wir ankommen, stehen wir vor verschlossenen Türen. Sie wurde eingezäunt. Nicht um Eintritt zu verlangen, sondern zum Schutz vor Vandalismus.

A Stroll through New York
We crawl through the long traffic jam towards the big metropolis. As we enter Manhattan, I notice a police car that has been following us for a while. Then the time comes. Sirens wail, and they pull us over. Inspection. Our Californian license plates have attracted attention once again.

Québec Family Trip
Québec-Roadtrip – Epische Reise 2016-2018 Teil X Jo Von Halifax spurten wir zurück in die Nähe von Montréal, wo wir Jo und seine Familie besuchen wollen. Seit wir das letzte Mal bei ihm und seinem Vater Jean-Pierre waren, sind sieben Jahre vergangen. Zwischenzeitlich habe ich einmal in Thailand gesehen, wo ich ihn bei der Familie seiner Frau in einem kleinen Dorf im nördlichen Thailand getroffen habe. Die Freude ist gross, als wir bei ihm vor der Tür stehen. Road Trip USA Detroit to Halifax
In Detroit, Michigan, haben wir die 8000-Meilen-Marke erreicht; eine weite Fahrt hinter uns, eine noch viel weitere vor uns. Einerseits interessiert uns Detroit, weil es die Heimatstadt von Freunden aus Kalifornien ist, andererseits, ist die Stadt im Umbruch. Der Niedergang der Automobilindustrie in der als Motor City ("Motown") betitelten Stadt war nur ein Grund, warum Detroit im Jahre 2013 Insolvenz anmelden musste.

We have covered almost 5000 miles since we left California. Along the foggy Oregon coast up into fantastic Washington into the Rockies in and around Idaho and Montana. One highlight follows the other. And yet it only gets better.
