When people go on holiday for a fortnight, they usually don't do much. A few excursions, eating, drinking and doing nothing<\/em>. That's about what our two weeks in Bali look like. We probably do even less! \ud83d\ude42
That's why there are almost\u00a0exclusively<\/span> a few photos here.<\/p>

For this time, we take a motorbike<\/span>\u00a0and drive around the island. Every 3 to 4 days we change the place. In addition, we visit a Swiss friend who lives in Bali, as well as a beloved Balinese family.<\/p>

Motorbikes squeeze past each other on the road. Driving a car makes little sense here. There is no talk of pavements. Still used to traffic-regulated Australia, we first have to reprogram ourselves.<\/p>

I have liked Bali since my first walk through the streets. We have arrived again in the world where order seems chaotic \u2013 or double chaos makes a new kind of order.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Our belongings reduced to a backpack, we ride our rented\u00a0motorbike<\/span> to Padang Bai. The fishing village has changed in recent years \u2013 less reggae bars on the beach and more restaurants in the centre of town.<\/p>

Here we drink arak (rice liquor) on the rocks in the restaurant. The sour taste is awful. Back at the hotel, I am invited to an arak brought by a connoisseur. It tastes like good vodka.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

A volcanic mountain rises near Amed and Lipah, making the surroundings tropical. Apart from 1-2 excursions, we do not move far.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

It is mostly day-trippers who visit the mountain village of Munduk. Otherwise, there is not much going on here.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

According to widespread belief, the Penjor (above) is a symbol of the spiritual mountain Gunung Agung in eastern Bali. It is the home of the gods and the ancestors. \nIn another symbolic meaning, the straight part of the bamboo represents the \"good\" in people, while the curve represents the \"bad\" and therefore must be beautifully decorated to balance it out. On the way to Ubud we drive through mountains, past lakes and hydrangea fields.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

And stop off in a monkey forest. Every few metres a guard tries to keep the cheeky wild animals at bay.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The colourful, touristy Ubud has grown so much in the last few years that Simon hardly knows the small city anymore.
A little outside we find accommodation among the rice fields.
(And if you only see this picture below, you can hear the birds whistling and the frogs croaking and know nothing about the construction site noise next door) \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
